Raina’s POV
“Valen doesn't want you.” I harshly yanked my arm from her hold. Fury overcame me. Exploding like dynamite, I grabbed Mercedes' neck, squeezing it. “And if I killed you right now, there would be no Snow!”
Impulsively, both of her hands clutched around mine, struggling, coughing, and squeaking. Fear simmered in her browns.
Slowly, as she fought with all her strength, she sank to her knees as I tightened my grasp. “The ― Worgens ― abducted ― you ― a-and ― sucked ― your ― essence ― dry.” Khouff! She coughed.
Upon hearing that, my clamp on her neck slackened.
She coughed again and could speak better, breathing labored. “No one could save you ― and millions of wolves will die.”
I dropped my hand and backed away. Her head hung, and she slumped forward with one hand pressing against the floor while the other sought her bruised throat.
