Valen’s POV
Launching at me with the might of ten linebackers, each blow Gustav landed drove me back, hit after hit.
Even though my blocks were solid, his unrelenting pace did not allow me to return a blow.
My heart dropped as my foot glided on gravelly ground, and I lost my footing. The crowd drew in a collective sharp breath. Dread clouded their faces.
“How are we losing to this bandwagon jumper?” Zeus gnarled.
Gustav seized the opportunity. With speed comparable to my own, he slammed me back, ensuring I crashed to the ground.
Then he dropped on me to pin me, panting out, “Are your warriors backup for when you lose? Will they finish the fight for their overrated Alpha? I must be A-ranking for you to need them.”
Instinct kicked in, and I got my foot raised in time to slam my heel into Gustav’s gut, sending him stumbling back with a feral snarl. “Argrrr. No way to treat a noble guest.”
