Chapter 16

Joe and Tasha emerged from the alley and started casually walking down the street, away from the diner.

“What’s the plan now?” Joe asked Tasha.

Tasha thought for a moment. Her entire life had always been rigid and scheduled for her. This freedom was a new experience.

“What do you want to do?” Joe asked.

Tasha stopped walking. She took Joe’s hand and gave him a warm smile.

“I believe that’s the first time anybody has ever asked me that...”

“Well, it is your life,” Joe said, looking her in the eyes.

Tasha’s heart pounded. What she wouldn’t give just to be a normal girl, who could spend the rest of her life with Joe!

“Yes, it’s my life. Natasha tells me my abilities leave me with certain obligations. I do need to learn to use my powers the proper way.”

“Okay, fair enough,” Joe said. He thought about putting his arm around her but stopped. “I repeat, what do you want to do?”
