Chapter 17
By the time Barney came running back into the diner, Sheriff Nelson had already started on his second donut and cup of coffee.
“Where the heck did you go, Barney?”
“Back to the station, sir, I wanted to get a photo of that girl the feds sent us,” Barney answered, wiping some sweat from his brow.
“What took you so long?”
“The printer needed more toner. Then it was out of paper. I had to run to the store. Then the printer jammed. Man, we need to use that printer more! But I got it!” Barney beamed when he showed his boss the photo.
Sheriff Nelson glanced at the photo. “Barney, the odds of that girl appearing in our town are slim to none.”
“Flo, Flo, come over here!” Barney shouted, waving at Flo.
Flo strutted over carrying a p*t of coffee. “Barney, you can’t blame me that your coffee is cold. You know we have a perfectly good bathroom here. Of course, if you spent THAT long in the bathroom, I’m glad you didn’t use ours. You should eat more prun
