Chapter 21

Sitting in the back of the truck on the way to Apple Cove, Major Ross updated his troops. “Now, men, when we get to Apple Cove, remember: we find Tasha, but we don’t harm her or any other civilians.”

Captain Robinson touched her headset as she listened. “We have confirmation from our fed friends that Tasha was spotted by a deputy in Apple Cove. We are ordered to proceed there at full speed. There are also backup troops at the base ready to be dispatched.”

Natasha spoke up. “That won’t be needed!”

Captain Robinson glared at her. “How can you be so certain?”

Natasha crossed her arms. “Tasha is not a danger unless she is provoked.”

Captain Robinson shook her head. “She’s a teenage girl. They are easy to provoke! And that’s when they don’t have superpowers! My god, if I had her power at her age.”

“Tasha is not you! She knows how to control
