Chapter 26
Sitting in the back of the truck, Natasha glared at the major. The major sunk back in his seat. He forced himself to straighten up though he squirmed in his chair.
“You know I am right, Major.”
The major looked away. “You know it’s my sworn duty to follow orders.”
Natasha’s glare intensified. “Ha, I thought you were a bigger man, not one to hide behind his duties!”
The major crossed his arm. “I’m not hiding behind my duties. I am doing my job.”
“You are making excuses. I thought you were a better man than that. A smarter man.”
“Look, Natasha, I promise you we won’t hurt Tasha, we’re doing this for her and the world’s good.”
Natasha laughed. “Says who?”
The major sat in silence, pondering over his words. “Says my bosses.”
“And they are all high and mighty?”
“They are my bosses. I get an order, and I follow it.”
“Even if the order is wrong?”
