Chapter 44. Another Plan
GABRIEL
Clive Peterson, a longtime friend and one of my clients, was the one wanting my services. For free this time. Like a charity thing. So I had to meet him at his house. I didn’t like where we were going to meet. It was originally scheduled for his downtown office, but shortly after my shift ended, I received a text telling me to meet him at his home.
“Gabriel!”
In shorts and a t-shirt, Clive showed up to greet me in the entrance of his property. He didn’t appear to be going about his business as usual; instead, he appeared to be on holiday.
Feeling overdressed in my suit, I stepped out of the automobile.
“I trust you don’t mind coming here.” He said with a sparkle in his brown eyes. His naturally dark hair was sharp, and his face was tanned. “Don’t you think the weather was just too great for us to be locked up in an office?”
He took me inside without waiting for my response and gave me a friendly pat on the back.
