"Are you okay, Gabby?"

I was clutching my chest when I suddenly became aware of the quick beating of my heart, and just a few seconds after that, I was taken aback when I heard Mel's voice.

"He's back," I unconsciously muttered.

As she heard what I said, the creases in her brow deepened, and since I didn't make it apparent to whom I was referring, she decided to ask about it.

"Who are you referring to, exactly? Who came back?" She asked, still looking confused.

"Caleb's dad is back! Jayden's back!" I exclaimed, feeling so frightened.

It took her an entire minute before she completely processed what I had said, and the look of bewilderment that had been on her face had abruptly been replaced with fear as she became aware of how serious the situation was.
