Chapter 13

"Jacob, go outside and survey the area. Make there are no more threats. If you find any, shoot him but keep him alive", Rodriguez orders Jacob.

Jacob nods hurriedly and leaves the house, pistol in hand. He can still hear the voice of Rodriguez going on about who could be targeting them. He goes around the perimeter carefully, then again to be sure. He discovers no one else and returns to the house.

He finds Rodriguez sitting in the living room, smoking a cigar. He looks worried, the skin on his forehead folds into tiny lines while he is in deep thought. Jacob takes a seat beside him. Rodriguez offers him a cigar and Jacob turns him down. 

"I worry for my little amor in times like this. When unexpected attacks like these happen, I worry all the violence will taint her or worse she'll get killed. What will I have to show to my darling Rosa in heaven for raising our child? A child killed my own hand work." Rodriguez shakes his head bitterly. He draws from the cig
