Chapter 57. Can't Help It
Atticus was waiting outside when we got home, and he wasn’t alone. The whole house staff and security were present, and they were all waiting. Well, some were just standing there while others were pacing dramatically.
The car rolled to a stop at the entrance, and Atticus walked briskly to the car and opened the door for me. I rolled my eyes at how dramatic they were being, but it warmed my heart that they were worried for me.
It reminded me of when Dad was alive and how he would worry over every little thing. Then, it used to make me so mad when he was always up in my business, telling me what I should or should not do, but now that he wasn’t here, I missed him so much and his worries.
Every night before I sleep, I would find myself thinking of the smallest things he did that I didn’t appreciate, but now yearn for, and it made me angry at myself for getting mad at him when all he wanted was to make sure I was fine.
