Chapter 146. Broken Promises

I looked back at the fancy penthouse one last time, tears flowing down my face. I quickly wiped them away and turned my back on that fancy place. I took a deep breath and walked away from the penthouse forever.

It was a windy and rainy day. As I left the penthouse grounds, rain mixed with my tears, soaking me completely. Holding my stomach tightly, I took slow and unsure steps. I didn't have a specific place in mind to go. I just wanted to get as far away from him and this city as possible.

I felt completely alone without a phone to ask for help. I didn't take anything from him when I left, afraid of being accused of being a gold digger. Even if I had a phone, I didn't have anyone to call. Everyone seemed connected to him in some way. I kept walking without direction, focusing on protecting my unborn child.

My thoughts were foggy when I heard car horns blaring behind me. I quickly turned around and saw a line of cars coming towards me
