Chapter 62
Anna’s POV
Someone was entering the hospital room.
I didn’t hear the door open. Didn’t hear footsteps. But I felt it, like the air shifted, like something heavy was slowly moving towards me. A dark figure loomed closer, stepping out of the shadows. I couldn’t see much, but the closer he got, the more everything in me recognized him.
It was Ryan.
“Ryan…” I whispered, trying to sit up, though my body felt weirdly slow, like I was awake but still stuck in sleep. The room was quiet. Strangely quiet. I looked around, expecting to see Dad, Mom, Grandpa or Grandma. But the chairs were empty.
They were gone.
Only Ryan was here, just now stepping into the room like he’d been waiting for everyone to leave.
I checked the time on the wall clock.
12:00 a.m.
Midnight.
Had I slept off? Was I just now waking up? Why did everything feel so… off?
The light was dim, but it wasn’t the regular hospital lighting. It was soft. Warm.
