Anna’s POV

“Oh my! Oh my! You both scared the living daylight out of me,” Mom exclaimed, rushing toward us the second we walked through the front door. Her hands flew to her chest, and her face was tight with worry. “Where were you two?! I called and called! It kept going straight to voicemail.”

Everyone was already waiting at home, Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, and Omega Agnes. They were all gathered in the living room, and every single one of them looked like they hadn’t slept all night. Their faces were pale and drawn, eyes wide with fear and relief all at once.

I bit down on my lip hard, trying not to show how embarrassed I felt as my cheeks burned hot. I didn’t need anyone spelling it out, the second she said that, my mind flashed to what had happened in the car, and I had to look away for a second.
