Chapter 160. The Universe Is Against Us
Teyana’s POV
The meeting ended almost an hour ago.
But the aftermath tension clung to the walls of the Carter house like smoke that refused to clear, lingering in every corner I turned to.
My mum had an hospital appointment and had left with the family driver. Mariah had left with Zayne. Natalie—with Vance and Professor Hartley. John had work to do so he left for his study.
Vance had given his own small speech earlier about how everyone needed unity now and let the past remain gone. We had honored Chris’ death with a one minute silence also.
Now, I retreated to my room without announcing it, my feet carrying me there out of instinct more than intention.
My room still smelled the same—lavender detergent and books. I vacuumed everywhere just to keep myself busy, remade my bed, then went to the bathroom to wash my face.
