I felt like I was about to face a beast. I pulled on a straight face as I turned to face the gentlemen in the room.

Michael was amused about this whole thing. He always looked so proud, that man. Jace looked worried while the CEO was fuming with anger.

“Who was that?” he all but growled, taking menacing steps towards me. I stood my ground.

“It was a personal call, sir,” I sniggered, emphasizing sir.

“Love,” he warned, his sterling gray eyes flashing as he released a dangerous aura.

“Do you ask all your employees about their calls?” I questioned, raising an eyebrow. He swallowed, looking aggravated. I know we needed to talk. If we were going to see each other, we had to talk about what happened five years ago, but I was dreading it.

Ellis’ chest was rising and falling. I smiled, “Please excuse me, I have work to finish,”
