I slammed my lips against his and kissed his frown away. I turned and gave him my back. He embraced me, his nose buried in my neck. I felt tingles appear on my skin. Vee purred in delight. I smiled as I watched everyone enjoying themselves. Michael was busy with his mate, gossiping as they snickered discreetly. They did that a lot. Zeyneb was with Luis, playing table pool not far from us, while Jace and Lilac talked and hugged. They were happy about their new kid.

At this moment, everything seemed perfect. I pushed the wary feeling I had at the corner of my mind. Was this the calm before the storm?
