Chapter 3
It took Alice a long time to come out of the washroom, and she directly walked out of the bar, not wanting to see anyone’s face at the moment. She just texted her friend to apologize to others who might have arrived in the meanwhile on her behalf as she booked a cab as fast as possible and headed back.
At this time, she wanted to curl up on her bed and hide her face. It was a good thing that her daughter was at her aunt’s. Otherwise, she wouldn’t know how to stop herself from crying her eyes out in front of the little one.
While heading back, Leona had already walked out of the bar as all of her friends had returned late at night. The bar slowly started to get empty little by little. In the end, only a waiter and the bartender remained as they cleaned up the place together.
Just then, the bartender’s cell phone rang as he glanced at it and took up the call, “Hey babe. No, wait, don’t go! I’ll be back!”
The waiter glanced at the bartender’s sorry face and sighed while holding the broom, “Go back. I’ll clean up the place alone.”
“Really? Tom, you’re a lifesaver! I owe you one!” After saying this, he packed up his things and walked away in a hurry. At this time, the waiter was completely alone, working in the bar in the dead of the night.
After half an hour, Tom locked the bar and placed the key beneath the flower pot before turning toward the street. Since it was late, there weren’t many pedestrians, and the ones walking past him were either beggars or a*****s. He ignored them and continued to walk down the street, but for some reason, he felt that someone was watching him from behind.
He turned around only to see those people either lying on the footpath or gathered at one place to do the a****** thing. Tom shook his head and shrugged off that feeling, but the more he walked, the more he felt that someone was staring intently at his back. His pace became quicker in an instant as he forced himself not to worry too much.
Tom had often been forced to work late, so he shouldn’t be particularly worried about walking alone. It was just that the alley that he had to cross would usually be darker than anything else. He pulled out his cell phone and turned on the torch before taking a breath. He was standing in front of the alley.
He stepped into the alley without hesitation. Just then, the feeling of someone staring at his back became so strong that he almost felt that the other person was just behind his back. After a few seconds, his entire body was pushed against the brick wall. He tried to turn back as his face paled.
He thought it would be a thief, so he said, “T-Take my wallet. Please, leave me alone!”
“Eh? What will I do with your little money?” An enchanting voice of a woman echoed next to his ears, making him stunned. Tom even stopped moving as if he were bewitched.
The woman ‘tsked’ as she moved closer to the man’s neck and sniffed, “Ah, fresh blood. I haven’t had that in a while.”
“Will you hurry? I want to have a bite too!” spoke a man standing next to the lady in the dark shadows. Neither of their faces was illumined in the darkness, and they even wore a hood that covered them up from head to toe. It also seemed that they had been using something to change their voices or something to make it more enchanting and alluring to their prey.
The woman glanced at Tom against the wall and said, “This is boring. He’s already under my control. What’s so fun about having dinner without playing with your food?”
“Just hurry up. I can’t take my hunger anymore,” the man pursed his lips, “I’m about to lose control.”
“Don’t worry, my dear. I’m your boss, after all. So I’ll bite this filth and make him unconscious. Then, he’s all yours.”
The man’s tongue moistened his lips as two pointed teeth snuck out, shining under the moonlight. At that moment, the woman bent and sniffed the neck of the young man against the wall as sharp, vampire teeth slid out. She bent and took a bite.
The young man screamed at the top of his lungs for the next few minutes as the two strangers sucked him dry. After finishing Tom off, the two strangers stood in the alley and wiped their mouths. The woman sighed, “It was too quick. This human died before I could even taste his blood.”
The man behind glared at her and crossed his arms on his chest, “I’m still hungry! I haven’t had enough!”
“Then let’s catch another fish,” said the woman as the corners of her lips curved up. “After all, I can’t let my dogs go hungry in the middle of the night.”
The next day.
Alice’s apartment.
The moment she woke up from her sleep, the first thing she heard on the news channels was that two dead bodies were found next to one another, and one of them was the waiter of the bar where she had gone with Leona. The strangest thing was that the entirety of blood had been sucked away from those bodies, leaving them dead.
It was similar to the case that Alice had observed not too long ago. Her face paled as soon as she heard the news, and before long, her cell phone rang. She picked it up without seeing it as she stood in her living room, staring at the TV screen, “Hello.”
“Did you hear the news?” Leona’s voice echoed in the background.
“Yeah. Watching it just now,” Alice paused and asked, “Are you okay?”
“Yes,” Leona sighed, “I narrowly escaped death.”
“Don’t say that…” Alice didn’t know how to comfort her friend when she was also covered in chills.
“Let’s talk about something else. I have good news,” Leona continued, “Vikki is in our city!”
Vikki….
Alice muttered that name under her breath as she stood there in a daze. She had heard of that name after a very long time. It was because that person used to be her best friend, but she ended up finding that Vikki had been secretly in love with her ex.
What did Alice do? She politely stepped aside when she felt her relationship with her ex wasn’t going well while pushing Vikki to the man she once loved before escaping that city for good.
Now, she not only saw her ex but also heard the news of how the woman who coveted him had arrived in this small city.
Alice didn’t know what she should feel anymore. She hadn’t told Leona about this, so of course, the girl was especially excited about meeting Vikki since the girl was a part of their small group before they both came to this city while their friend stayed behind.
At this time, Alice wondered how she would face Vikki now after all these years. Would that girl be in a relationship with her ex?
Just as Alice was thinking about this, someone knocked on her door, “Leona, there’s someone at the door. I’ll talk to you later.”
After that, Alice put down the phone and opened the door thinking the other person was her sister, returning with Jocelyn, but just as she opened the door, her entire body froze as she stared at the man who had just arrived.
His emerald eyes stared at her as he stood there in a causal outfit that complimented his eye color. He smiled slightly when the girl opened the door.
Her ex, Chris Noris.
