Chapter 21. Between Silences and Tensions
Cecilia
The ballroom was filled with forced laughter, superficial conversations, and traces of expensive perfume. Amidst this scene, Liam remained by my side, his expression a mix of frustration and annoyance. Meanwhile, I tried to decipher the reason for this seemingly constant irritation on his face.
I noticed the moment he sighed, looking away for a moment before responding:
“You're too quiet, Cecilia. You need to engage more in the conversation.”
Observing Liam's friends, Logan and Adriel, I tried to figure out how I could fit into it. They were handsome and intimidating, and I had no idea what to say to such distinguished men.
“I'm just trying to follow your instructions” I replied, keeping my voice calm but feeling frustration growing within me.
Logan, the cynic, cast a mocking glance in my direction.
“Liam, your wife is so silent that we can hardly tell she's here.”
Adriel, the calmer of the two, gave me an understanding look.
