Chapter 24. Another Disappointment

I woke up that morning, and the first thing that crossed my mind was that today I would be returning to Laser Inc. But unlike before, now I am the wife of the CEO. The prospect was daunting, and I felt very nervous. I feared the looks, the judgments, and especially an encounter with Frederico Ricci. The memory of his humiliation was still fresh in my mind, and now I would face all of that in the presence of people I already knew from my time as an employee of the company.

The choice of what to wear became a dilemma. I opted for jeans from a well-known brand that cost much more than I earned as a cleaner at Laser Inc., and a discreet white blouse that might seem simple but had also cost a good sum of money. As I dressed, I reminisced about the moments with Marta, choosing clothes, and building my new wardrobe as Liam's wife. I was shocked by the prices of the pieces, but Marta's persistence and patience convinced me to try them on and even accept them.
