My gown brushed over my legs, my hair was styled, and the jewelry sparkled softly in the light. But before I felt I could lift my head and face what awaited me outside, my thoughts drifted back to the mishaps of the weeks that had passed.
The fragmented memories rushed back, heavy, and sharp. After I was released from the hospital, I was going for therapy for my healing and some days I would stay in my room at home attempting to regain some energy.
My body was sore and weak, my hand swollen and stiff, yet I forced myself to try to at least move, every day. The pain was not confined to my body, it was in my heart too. So much had changed, so much had been lost.
