Chapter 87. You’re Safe
Ezra’s POV
Orion and I split the moment I got the lead. I did not wish to spend another second beside the man who had allowed this to happen.
He handed me a list of properties once owned by Grace’s father, places off-the-books, abandoned, and sold under false names. One was an old factory on the outskirts of the industrial zone.
I was headed there now.
The SUV wimped itself through the traffic. My phone was glued to my ear as I was ordering the security team to tighten their perimeter around the factory. I did not want to walk in blind.
But there was static on the line.
“Say again,” sharply I ordered.
“—too far out, the signal’s breaking. We’ll be there in five,” one of the men replied.
Five was not in my control.
As the factory came into focus, I felt it inside my chest. It told me she was near because of the kinds of noises or the silence, the stillness, and the way the sky kept hanging low.
