Chapter 88. Afraid
Layla’s POV
The last time I saw life, it was filled with ups and downs, running footfalls, and then nothing.
Just black.
Silence.
Upon my waking, I could see nothing.
And it’s not because my eyes were closed—but because something blindfolded them.
An irresistible panic coursed through me. My arms were stiff, my wrists tied behind my back, and so were my ankles. The ropes dug into my skin, and I was unable to move.
The air was heavy and stale, the ground beneath me was cold and hard.
Where was I? What’s going on?
My breathing quickened, and the inhalations into my chest were too rapid, I was going to black out again if I didn’t calm down.
But, how do I get myself to keep calm when my hands are tied, eyes closed and mouth gagged?
I can’t even remember how long I have been sitting here. Maybe minutes? Hours?
