Chapter 36
Fabian helped me home. I was too weak to even drive, even when Chris begged Inspector Jude to send me for him.
I went upstairs, barefooted. I passed Dad's room before going into mine.
I let go of my shoes the moment I entered my bedroom.
Fuck. How much longer do I endure this?
My back was placed on the wall, and I cried alone in the room.
I didn't want anyone disturbing me; I made sure the rooms were locked.
I cried to a point. I slept on the ground with my phone next to me.
The following morning, the first call I had was from the prison Chris was being kept in; it was from an officer there, and he informed me that Chris wanted to see me this morning.
I got up from the ground, disconnecting the call.
At the police station. Chris and I met each other. He wasn't with the rest of the other criminals locked in the cell; he was alone.
"Hey! Good morning. Tell me the truth. What happened to Mom?" Chris held the cell bar tight.
