Chapter 51. Farewell, Nancy

Despite the huge tuition fees, Jeanne had not given up hope of putting Emma in a special school, especially when her sister came back in the evening with scratches on her face.

Every time she asked, Emma just shook her head Jeanne thought it was because both of them hadn't mastered sign language yet. It had only been two months since Doctor Valum's friend had arrived at their camp. The majority of the locals had wanted to learn because they didn't want to be left out of possible communication with Emma.

Only the old folks and a few others found it unnecessary because you didn't have to learn to sign to communicate feelings. Cliché apologies like Sebastian used to say.

Emma was in kindergarten, and even if she had told her teacher not to worry because Emma's handicap was not going to impact the education she was going to give to the other students, she was certain that her teacher would have been reluctance and kind of rejection towards her sister.

But she pre
