Maya's heart sank. She knew it was unwise to speak to the police without legal representation, but she couldn't afford an attorney, especially when she hadn't even been formally charged with anything yet.

"What's going to happen to me?" Maya asked nervously.

"If you help us locate the person responsible for your sister's death, we'll drop the charges and let you go free," Hall assured her.

Maya let out a loud exhale. "I don't know who killed my sister," she said, trying to remain composed. "Or why. I don't know if anyone did. But I promise you, I won't tell you anything even if I find out something."
