“So, what do you think of the situation now?” I asked Pearl and she sat beside me, tired of yelling.

“I don’t know. Did you talk to Vexon?” she asked. I shook my head, while she sighed. “Leave the anger, Kendrik. What’s done is done. We can’t undo it. Learn to accept and move on.”

Her words were very convincing and I really loved it.

I let out, “I won’t until he himself explains it to me. If he tells me, he will. If he doesn’t, I won’t force him. And as far as I know, he will tell me soon.”

“Pearl,” I breathed, making her hum in response. “What do you think? Will Ruby really escape?” I was curious to know, and silently wished she didn’t.

She chortled and said, “In every mafia marriage in this world, which woman didn’t try to run?”

It was true. Every woman tried but did not succeed. Some were living a happy life right now, whereas some were in the grave.

“But if she tries, Vexon will be upset,” I mumbled.

“I know. But as f
