Chapter 12. Country X
I was seething with anger when I finally arrived home, leaving me in no mood to chat with Tina or call Lana.
"Ugh... I just need to take a damn shower and get some sleep. I'm so done with today," I muttered to myself.
Interrupting my thoughts, Tina timidly approached me. "Um, ma'am?"
I turned to look at her, realizing my tone had come off harsher than intended. Guilt washed over me as I realized she wasn't the source of my frustration.
"I'm sorry, Tina. Dinner was just..." I trailed off, searching for the right words.
"It's alright, ma'am. I was thinking of ways to ease your mind during the car ride, but I couldn't come up with anything," she said softly, a hint of apology in her voice.
Touched by her concern, I shook my head. "Don't worry about it, Tina. You shouldn't have to burden yourself for my sake."
