Chapter 61. Rebel
I looked at the plastic bag I was carrying and started walking again. I didn't know where I was going. I didn't even know the place I had gotten off at.
I just didn't want to bother him anymore. I was walking aimlessly when my stomach rumbled. I was hungry. I hadn't realized that the last meal I had was breakfast at Ms. Hazel's house. I should have eaten more this morning so it would last me until tonight. I looked at a roadside eatery as I passed by. I was so absorbed that I almost got startled by a honk.
"Sorry," I apologized to the car.
I sat down by the side of the road for a moment. Where would I spend the night?
Compared to when I was kicked out of Auntie Anne's house, I could say I was safer now. There were many people and passing cars around. I had learned my lesson, not to repeat my mistake of wandering and staying in dark places, especially at night.
