Chapter 65. Gift
I wiped the sweat from my brow after finishing breakfast.
"It smells nice," said Carl. He had just come downstairs, dressed in his three piece suit and ready to leave for work.
It was my fifth day here, and I was starting to remember his morning routine by heart. It seemed like I really didn't have much to do around the house. I felt like I was wasting my time, but there wasn't much else I could do.
Carl had mentioned he was going straight to his condo today because of an early meeting. The problem was, that I felt like I wasn't really serving any purpose here. It was as if I didn't have a job.
"What's this?" I asked when he handed me a box.
He smiled. "Open it," he said excitedly.
I wiped my hands on my apron before opening the box. It was plain white on the outside, but my eyes widened when I saw what was inside.
I bit my lower lip and closed it back up, handing it to Carl. He furrowed his brows.
"Don't you like it?" he asked.<
