Chapter 24

I just arrived at Amun's office with Taran. We would have figured out where the good guy was hiding. Apparently he wanted to use his work as an excuse.

I still felt the anger, but I tried very hard to hide it. I should make it less obvious how I felt otherwise I would practically scream in his face.

Taran knocked on the door for me, so I asked snappily, "Can't I do that myself?" He growled at me angrily, which was definitely fitting for a werewolf, but I gave him a withering look.

There was no further escalation because Amun shouted, "Come in!" It sounded threatening and authoritarian, but it was good for me to hear his voice. That alone alleviated my bad mood somewhat. I still rolled my eyes internally because I thought that way.

Taran nodded goodbye and I opened the door. Inevitably I didn't have to say any more words to him.
