Myrtle's POV
No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get my heart to settle down when I saw the rings of blue and black hanging around her neck. I am confident that I am content right now. As a result of the conclusion of the conflict, there will be no more deaths. The suffering of my partner was the only one that continued, yet the rest of my packmates were spared. People were happy, and Mrs. Patterson even held a large party to celebrate the end of the war and invited everyone in the pack to attend. Given how weary my pals are, I doubt they will be able to make it there, though.
She noticed me continuing to look at her, and she smiled at me in a way that was both kind and comforting. She contemplated leaving the room and moved her head toward the door before speaking out, "I gotta." Juan interrupted her with a resounding "no," which caused her to gaze up at him in a state of bewilderment.
