“But are you still in love with him?” Bennett inquired for the hundredth time.

“Shh, he’s back,” I said, gathering the glass cups on the table when Mavis drove into the car park. “I don’t want to talk about it right now,” I added, hoping she would understand my reason for saying so. “I’m sorry if that’s rude, but it’s just not the right time.”

She nodded, a thoughtful expression on her face. “I understand, I was just eager and can’t wait for us to get to your room and talk freely.”

She smiled and I did the same though stylishly, so that Mavis’s who was already out of his car wouldn’t suspect that we were talking about him.

Bennett had been away, working for a Scottish billionaire. According to her, she ran away from duty after he began to make advances at her.
