Awkward

My heartbeat was not returning to normal because Rexon was still holding my hand toward the table where the band members were eating.

Instead of me taking care of Rexon, he was the one who put the food on my plate.

“Thank you,” I whispered.

He just shrugged his shoulders and started eating. I had only a few bites when Rexon left for a smoke. He didn’t even move his food.

I slowly followed him with my gaze while taking a deep breath.

“Hi!” Suddenly, someone sat on the chair in front of me.

“Devon!” I said in shock.

“How’s your food?” he asked while looking at my plate.

“Did you eat already?” I offered my soft smile again.

“Yup, in the servant quarters,” he replied.

“I thought you had a lunch party?” I frowned at the question.

“Yeah, if the book signing ended early. Maybe some other time.&rdquo
