Chapter 42

The Battle of the Bands started at exactly 6:30 PM, and almost the entire block was in the grounds to support Kenneth’s band, which they just revealed the name of: The Band Paper. I kinda like it… simple and somewhat witty.

The MU prepared monobloc chairs for the audience. Since we arrived early, we managed to get seats. I tried sitting next to Arron earlier and pretended to borrow a power bank to avoid Raven, but he still sat next to me, and Arron just lent me his power bank instead.

According to the host, The Band Paper was the fifth to perform, so I didn’t focus much on watching and played with my cellphone. I scrolled through my social media and noticed that Raven kept glancing at me. I ignored him and continued scrolling.

Apparently, each band was required to perform two songs—one solo and one duet. That’s probably why Kenneth recruited a female vocalist, even though he was the head vocalist of their trio.
