Chapter 11. A Female Employee Chosen for the Party

Naomi glanced at Gladys. She didn't want to vie with Gladys, as she expected her to raise her hand, but she didn’t.
"Hello?" Nicole called, seeing that the two ladies weren’t volunteering.
"I would like to go to the party, but my mother has asked me to come help her cook at the venue where she works, because her fellow cook called in sick and she’d like to fill in for her," Gladys told Nicole.

Gladys’s mother was a cook who worked in a prominent restaurant, and indeed, she had called Gladys earlier to ask her to come and help at the restaurant because her colleague was sick. Gladys accepted and promised to help once she got off work.

"I guess Naomi will be the one going then. Any disfavor?" Nicole asked, glancing at Naomi.
"None," Naomi replied.
