Chapter 13. A Friend Who Saves

He held her hand and Caden stopped on his track.

"She isn't a worker here." He says to Marshal's stepmother.

Gladys raised her head after expecting the slap to land on her cheek but she heard his voice.

She looked up at him and realized it was Jackson and she wondered how come he came to her mother's restaurants.

"And so?" Mrs. Janelle, Marshal's stepmother fired at Jackson.

"Any more violence from you, you'll be charged with assault," Jackson added in and Mrs. Janelle scoffed as she released her hands from Jackson

"Are you a lawyer or something?" Marshal ask scornfully and Jackson glare at him as he walked closer to him.

"For you pushing her, one phone call would end your career." Jackson threatened and Marshal understood what he meant.

If words go out that he assaulted a worker, it might put the brand he was about to release to ruin.
