Chapter 2. Caden
.
He walked out of the walk-in closet, dressed already in his red suit and his hair styled.
He made some phone calls mostly talking about some business and contracts.
He walked out of his bedroom and to the hallway.
As he walked down the stairs, his younger brother ran to him.
"Good morning Caden." Lawrence greeted and Caden ended the phone call as he carried his five-year-old brother.
"Morning Lawn," Caden answered, pecking his cheek as he walked to the dining area.
He dropped his younger brother on the dining chairs and he sat beside him.
His parents joined them for breakfast and the cook served them.
"How's business going these days?" Mr. Morrow asks, he was the founder of Morrow fashion company and Morrow models before passing the companies onto his son, Caden.
"Great so far. The new designs our fashion designers have designed will be launched next week." Caden replied as he used the cutlery in cutting the turkey on his plate.
"I guess you'll need new employees." Mr Morrow said and Caden nodded.
"We're taking on people in their mid-twenties, no less than ten employees are needed." He adds in
"Okay. Tell me if you need anything else." His dad added as he sipped the juice.
"And the model----"
"Darlin, talk about business later, let Caden eat in peace." Mrs Morrow interrupted and her husband cleared his throat.
"Okay then." He agreed.
Caden was done with eating and after having a brief business talk with his dad since that's what they always seem to talk about as father and son. They ended the discussion with a little argument and this made Caden stomp out angrily and enter his car and drive out of their big compound.
His father seems to always find fault in him and always compares him with his cousin and this always makes Caden feel bad.
He always worked his bones off as the CEO of the company his dad passed to him, still, his father has never felt proud of his achievement but kept on comparing his cousin's little achievements to his.
He drove to the road and there, he was caught in traffic and he decided to U-turn.
He turned the car to the street, though he doesn't like taking street roads, but he had to and as he drove to the street, it was better for him than wasting his time on traffic hold-ups.
He was driving in peace not until he heard a lady's aggressive voice cursing at him and he stopped the car.
What's wrong with middle-class people?
He thought as he alighted from the car.
Gladys walked towards him in rage but Caden still didn't get what he had done wrong and he was the first to talk.
"Hello, Miss. Do you have a grudge against me for swearing that loud?" Caden asked politely and Gladys chuckled.
"I don't know you, not until you stain my skirt." She fired and he looked at her skirt and there his eyes searched what might be under that beautiful skirt of hers.
However, he didn't understand what she meant and he gave a questioning look.
"You used your goddamn tires to splash those waters on the floor on me." She told him and he looked at her skirt again and her legs were so charming.
It wouldn't be bad having her on his bed.
But that wasn't the case, she was an angry bird.
"Okay, whatever it is, I'm sorry." Caden apologized about entering his car.
"Do you think sorry's gonna cut this off? I'm on my way to an interview and if you were the boss that was meant to interview me would you accept my stained skirt?" She asked rhetorically.
Not like she was mad at Caden for using water to wet her skirt, she just needed someone to yell at.
"Okay," Caden answered as he tucked his hand in his pocket and brought out some money. "This might be enough for compensation." He says stretching out the money at her and Gladys scoffed.
"If I don't get employed today Mr blind driver, you dare know that you are at fault." She blurted out and glared at his car before walking away and Caden smirked.
"Okay, she's crazy. Yes, very." Caden decided to think that as he hopped in and drove away, wondering if they will meet again.
.
Gladys made her way to the bus stop and she stood with the other passengers waiting for the bus to arrive.
It was great having to yell her frustrations at someone, it has been a while since she has done that and at least it gave her new hope and heads-up to face the interview she was going for.
She sighed a bit as the bus finally arrived and they all rushed in.
She took her seat and looked out the window.
The interview she was going for was a fashion company and hopelessly for her, she knew deep down she wouldn't be accepted.
She wasn't good with fashions or dress codes, nevertheless, she wanted to try her best.
.
Caden drove to the company and as he alighted, his manager who was standing outside the company walked with him and they entered the company together.
Caden made his way to the elevator, discussing some business talks with his manager and he walked to the hallway and his office.
"Let the meeting be later in the noon, I need to sort something out as it is." He spoke to his manager who nodded understandingly before walking out of his office.
He picked out some files and read through them, signing and operating on the computer and his manager walked in again.
"A reminder, you said you wanted to join in interviewing the new employees." Caden's manager reminded him.
"Oh, lest I forget. When is the interview taking place?" He asked.
"In the next fifteen minutes sir."
"Okay, I better start preparing." He says standing up and taking a file along with him.
