Chapter 43. Calmed Down

Jennifer’s POV

I got calmed by Bob’s hand. He stayed with me in the changing room for a few minutes and we left after that. He didn’t ask too many questions about what happened to me or why I suddenly had a panic attack. I still don’t know how to start telling him the story because I’m too scared of what might happen.

I texted my Coach and said that I’m not feeling well and I left earlier in school. Luckily she understood and didn’t force me to practice.

He stopped the car and sat there in silence. We watched the city lights in front of us.

“Do you want to talk about it?” He began to ask after a while. I sighed and took a deep breath.

“The new student…” I started.

“Hmm.”

“That was my best friend back when I was in the Philippines,” I said.

“Was?” He asked.

“Yeah, she… she already was,” I mumbled. I wiped my tears, which started falling again to my cheek.
