Chapter 8. Effortlessly

Jennifer’s POV

It’s Friday, and I’m exhausted from school. I asked my dad if I could stay home and text the school saying I was sick, but he refused. Determined to find some relief, I called my coach to see if we could have practice after school. Luckily, she agreed.

Reyna texted me, asking if we could meet at the entrance. I rode my bike and parked it in the parking lot.

“Hey, I like your bike.” As I turned around, I saw one of Bob’s friends.

“Thanks,” I said and turned around to get my stuff.

“Nice taste. I’m Tommy,” he said, and I just nodded.

He scratched his neck with his right hand.

“I heard what you did to Aaron,” he said. He understood my confusion. “People talk,” he said, and I nodded.

“I think that was pretty cool because no one can fight Aaron except Bob,” he explained.

I nodded.

“Do you always just nod?” he asked.

I nodded and smirked at him. He rolled his eyes.
