Chapter 31. Proving Myself Worthy
Emma’s POV
The guards, despite being vastly outnumbered, valiantly tried to fight off the rogues. They swung their swords with precision and skill, taking down a few of the attackers. However, there were too many of them, and soon the guards were surrounded.
I watched in horror as a guard was overwhelmed, his sword slipping from his grasp. He tried to defend himself with his bare fists, but it was no use. The rogues were too strong, too numerous.
One of them delivered a brutal blow, striking the guard with the hilt of his sword. The guard crumpled to the ground, unconscious. The rogues began to drag the noncombatants out of the chamber, their screams, and pleas echoing through the air.
I grabbed the hand of the lady who was being harshly pulled by the rogue as I kicked him on his crotch, setting her free. That action caught the others’ attention.
