Chapter 56. The Missing Part

Bennet’s POV

My eyes scanned the pages, but my mind wasn’t on the numbers and statistics. I couldn’t shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in my stomach since Emma’s disappearance. I kept thinking about her bright smile, her infectious laugh, and her sparkling eyes.

I rubbed my temples, trying to focus on the task at hand. But my thoughts kept drifting back to Emma. Where was she? Was she safe? Was she thinking of me too?

My office door creaked open, and Hunter walked in. “Hey, Bennett, how’s it going?”

I sighed, pushing the reports aside. “Honestly, I’m a mess. I can’t stop thinking about Emma.”

He looked as worried as I did. Ever since her disappearance, we haven’t been ourselves. We barely eat or sleep as all we think about is her. How was she doing and if everything was okay with her? We still didn’t know where they might’ve taken her to but who exactly to her? Who was after her?
