Chapter 2
The Wedding Day
In front of a sizable, stunning residence, Soo-Yun’s car stopped. She flung open the car door and got out. After letting out a long sigh, Soo-Yun moved toward the front gate. He flung open the door just as she was going to ring the bell at the gate. He was giving her a serious look.
He was ready to give her a hug when he exclaimed, “You are finally here, Soo-Yun,” in a deep voice. She moved backwards to get away from his contact.
“Sang-Woon, I came here to make a clarification for you.” He was ready to touch her again when she took a step back, giving him a perplexed expression.
“Let me at least give you a hug, Soo-Yun.”
She shrugged in the negative. He is aware that something is amiss with her. Sang-Woon welcomed her inside.
“Soo-Yun, come in. Let’s sit down and discuss it.”
He caught her eye as she grinned.
Soo-Yun plopped down on the couch as soon as they entered the launch. She received the juice glass from Sang-Woon. She exhaled deeply.
“I’m sincerely sorry, Sang-Woon.”
He approached her and sat down next to her after scowling.
“Soo-Yun, what happened to you? Are you alright?”
A tear ran from her eye as she bowed her head. He gave her a worried-looking stare.
“You know you can tell me, Soo-Yun. What happened?”
She nodded and cast a thoughtful glance into his eyes.
“I — I’m getting married,”
His eyes began to fill with tears, and his heart missed a beat.
“W-what?”
She got up and turned her back on him.
“Yes, I’m very sorry, I swear.”
She was afraid of losing him, and her voice was trembling. He is, after all, her love. She is terrified even if she is unaware that he was not her first love.
“I’m leaving. The story comes to an end here. Avoid contacting me.”
She stepped outside his house, leaving him behind.
When Sang-Woon turned to face the door, he shed a tear.
“Soo-Yun, I adore you. I’ll adore you forever.”
After a few days
Their wedding day had come. Everyone was working hard on preparations. The bride-to-be, Soo-Yun, was admiring her wedding gown while posing in front of the mirror. Her untidy hairdo looked lovely with the tea-pink wedding dress she was sporting, along with simple diamond stud earrings. Her mother and Mrs. Jang appeared as the door abruptly opened while she was applying her makeup.
“My sweetie, are you ready? The visitors are waiting for you.”
With a big smile, Mrs. Leon questioned her. She gave her a small nod while putting on a fake smile.
“Your appearance is stunning. Jun-Sang will fall in love with you.”
Laughingly, Mrs. Jang said. She only received a smile from Soo-Yun.

Without giving her a second thought, he put the ring on her finger. When the priest abruptly uttered something that caused both of them to scowl, Soo-Yun was gazing admiringly at Jun-Sang’s face and adoring his features.
“You have just become husband and wife. You can kiss the newlywed.”
As he went closer to her, Jun-Sang fixed her with a hard glance. Her heart was racing so loudly that she was attempting to regulate it. Soo-Yun fiercely closed her eyes. Jun-Sang kissed her forehead as he knelt down to her level. Everyone began to applaud as soon as he turned back.

Soo-Yun left the gathering right away to go to her room since she had become weary of the artificial grin after receiving so many visitors. Soo-Yun turned to face the wall. There were also numerous images of her father. She let out a long sigh as she closed her eyes. She shed a single tear, which perfectly captured how she was feeling at the time.
“Dad? Why did you abandon me in his obscene world? You know, pretending to be a strong person in front of everyone is really difficult. They simply have no comprehension.”
She snapped a photo of her father and herself. Her cheeks broke into a tiny smile.
“Look, I did it. I love you dad, hope you are doing well in heaven. I hope you’re content.”
She repositioned the image on the table. She took a seat on the bed and examined her wedding ring.
“Jang Jun-Sang, you’ve changed a lot.”
A flashback entered Soo-Yun’s consciousness as she closed her eyes.

In an effort to get to her lesson on time, a girl was sprinting down the hallway. Making a loud thrust, she ran into someone who was on the ground and collapsing. She closed her eyes and moaned in anguish. Someone extended a hand to her. Once her eyes finally opened, she noticed a hand in front of her.
“I’m so sorry. Are you alright?
She mustered a grin as she turned to face the individual.
“I suppose, yeah.”
He helped her stand up while she was holding his hand.
She smiled at him and said, “Thank you so much. They heard the ring just as he was going to speak. He was stunned when she suddenly became frightened and fled.
***
She opened her eyes as the flashback of her past ended in her mind.
"It was him, Moon Sang-Woon. I’m sorry Moon, we were about to be with each other, but fate wants something else.”
She was in her thoughts, and suddenly someone knocked on the door. She stood up and went towards the door.
She opened the door and Jang Jun-Sang was standing there without taking a glance at her; he said.
“Let’s go, everyone, we’re looking for you.”
She nodded and took a step forward. He went after her. She was about to take a step up the stairs when her foot twisted and she fell. Jang ran towards her, held her by her waist, and bumped her on his chest.
She closed her eyes tight, bracing herself for a fall, but as she collided with his chest, she looked at the person who had saved her. She cast a glance at him. Jang Jun-Sang had a firm grip on her.
She exclaimed, “Jun-Sang? I’m okay. You can leave me now.” She said in one breath. He sighed and relaxed his grip.
“Soo-Yun, be cautious. I’m not sure why you’re always clumsy.”
He said indifferently and walked away from her. She followed him, pouting.
***
She went to the car after greeting her parents and sat down. As Jun-Sang started the car, she gave a small wave to her brother. They eventually drove away. He was preoccupied with the road and didn’t realize the lovely bride was sitting next to him. She smiled as she looked at Jun-Sang.
“Jun-Sang?”
In response, he simply hummed.
“Do you remember how we used to be in school?”
She approached him in the hopes of striking up a conversation, but what he said disappointed her.
“I don’t remember so.”
She gave a sad smile and looked out the window. Soo-Yun assumed there was no way to communicate with him any longer. She closed her eyes and fell asleep.
He sighed as he looked at her.
“I am sorry.” He mumbled and concentrated on getting home.
Jun-Sang pulled the handbrake as they reached the house, causing Soo-Yun to awaken. She tried to clear her vision by opening her eyes. She then got out of the car and arranged her wedding gown.
Soo-Yun attempted to take a step, but her wedding gown prevented her from doing so.
Jun-Sang notices her sighing. He decided to approach her and took her in his arms. Her pupils dilated.
“Don’t be pleased. I’m simply assisting you.” He said bitterly and led her into the house.
Jun-Sang entered the house, his maids and guards all staring at him with their jaws dropped. He took her into her room and put her down. She had no idea she was staring at him all the time.
“This is your room. We don’t have to share a room. Please do not enter my room without my permission. Prepare yourself. We’ll talk about the contract tomorrow at 9:00 p.m.”
He said this and then left her alone in her room.
