In the privacy of another room, Maurvi addressed Tami directly, "Are you certain about this? Please don't make any decisions under any obligation."

"Yes, Mom," Tami affirmed, her head downcast.

"Why do I sense you're under pressure? What's troubling you?" Maurvi inquired gently. Tami shook her head.

"I'm just overwhelmed by the sudden changes. There is so much tension everywhere. Why did everything happen like this?" Tami responded tearfully. Maurvi hugged and patted her. Gautam pulled his daughter in his arms and made her look at him.

"Tami, sweetheart, Mihir loved Gauravi. You're not her. I don't want you to be a mere substitute. Marrying him should not be a sacrifice for your sister or our relationships with the Shah family. We'll take responsibility; let people say what they want," Gautam reassured her.
