Chapter 33. I Will Be Punished

Tiara POV

Vincent picked a restaurant that was near to his home. I had a sneaking suspicion that he hadn’t originally selected this one. It was a kind of punishment that my parents had come unannounced.

He didn’t require a reservation, anyway. As soon as he stepped into any restaurant, any table was available.

Even though dinner was uncomfortable, Vincent didn’t try to flirt with me. He was not all that over me like I’d imagined, but rather was emotionally detached, obviously upset by this twist of fate. My mother spent the first part of the meal teasing me and the second part organizing the wedding, while my father glanced down at his filet mignon and was unusually silent. I struggled to smile and look cheerful in case anybody was snapping pics with us.

When we eventually made it back to the estate, I discovered I hadn’t really tasted the food I had just devoured. I even forgot what I had ordered.

My mother fell asleep in the car on the way back home,
