Chapter 85. Safe and Secure
One afternoon, as Riccardo and I were having lunch at a small café, we noticed a group of men in suits watching us from across the street. They didn’t look like police officers, and we knew better than to assume they were friendly.
“We need to get out of here,” Riccardo whispered urgently.
We quickly paid our bill and made our way to the back exit of the café, hoping to make it out undetected. But before we could reach the door, one of the men stepped in front of us, blocking our path.
“Mr. Loretta would like a word with you,” he said coldly.
We had no choice but to follow them. They led us through narrow alleys and abandoned buildings until we reached a nondescript warehouse on the outskirts of town.
Inside the warehouse, we found ourselves face-to-face with my former employer, Vittorio Moretti. He looked older than I remembered, but his eyes still held the same cold intensity.
