I could draw some selfishness from her tone, probably because she knew she wasn't pregnant but just needed the popularity which she will gain walking with me to the hospital. 

I kept silent for a few seconds without saying anything, then I just went ahead and clicked on the red button. I imagine why I even picked the call, I'm sure this is the question Carla would ask inside of her.

I opened the door of my car, got in and reversed.
