The air here seemed a lot different, calming, soothing. Though it might have some effect on school, I had to take her far away from everything, away from the mess I’d created and the silly creep that’s been watching us.
Thankfully, Jackson was a little too busy running for Mayor and making new investments and partnering with new business partners. A really good thing, especially at a time like this.
We arrived on the island a few hours ago. The silence was deafening, the tension between us was rising. I don’t know if she was mad at me or just in her feelings.
Every time I try to start a conversation, I open my mouth and I forget everything I want to say, guilt just would not let me. I want to carry her in my arms, cuddle her. I wonder what those kids had done to her before I got there and what more they would have done if I hadn’t gotten there on time. Her clothes were a mess, missing buttons and all.
