“You are really a fan of this lovely woman,” an executive of one of the biggest jewelry companies in New York said as everyone burst into laughter.
Layla stared at Jack with her eyes widened. This was the first time she had seen him in a long, and it felt unreal that he was in the same room with her in a city where she wanted to be her new home.
“Layla, no, it can’t be,” Jack said, stunned at the lady standing on the stage.
“She had red hair and she didn’t look this stunning; it is probably a look-alike or something.”
“Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Layla Garfield, and it is an honor to be at such an esteemed event. Unfortunately, I had to stand in for Mr. Williams. He is controlling battling cancer, and with our prayers, we hope to see him come out of it victorious.”
