Book 2: Sex in the Labyrinth

I stand in silence, watching the situation unfold between the king and Rose, wondering what I can do to help her, and when she runs from the building, my first instinct is to follow her.

As I make a run for the door, I tap Reece on the shoulder, “Handle this, please?” I ask him, and he nods. I take a look at my Beta, Carlton, who is standing near where I was, his mouth agape. Using the mind-link, I instruct him, “Keep me posted on what’s going on here.”

I run out the door, but I can’t see Rose anywhere. It’s dark, and the lanterns hanging in the garden area don’t do much to illuminate the grounds since the moon is behind a thick veil of clouds.

“Rose?” I call out, but there’s no answer.

My lungs inhale her scent, which is hard to pick up because of all of the flowers, but I take off behind her, trying to follow the faint smell of her body I know so well from being with her. It’s the scent of cantaloupe, and my mouth waters as I tak
