Chapter 40. Is Emily Up to Her Tricks Again?

I sit at the small table in my room and look at the words in the book in front of me without fully comprehending the text. All I see are letters and words splayed throughout the page. Stabbing pain on the left side of my lower abdomen makes me wince. I can’t help but make a faint moaning sound.

After Eli left, I hadn’t slept quite right as the dull ache kept me awake. Again, I feel an urgent need to pee, so I stand up and head for the bathroom. I usually go to the toilet a lot after binging on fruit drinks or having had a little too much water to drink, but neither one of those could possibly be the issue right now.

All I have had since I woke up was a quarter glass of juice, but I couldn’t finish it as my mouth feels metallic. I feel like I have been sucking on a handful of pennies.

It's funny how I feel the urgent need to pee, yet my urine is just a few droplets. This is weird and causing me to worry. I walk back to the room and find V
